Valparaíso...

Here are a few pictures and impressions of our stay in an incredibly diverse and colorful city: Valparaíso = Paradise Valley.  They are from Tuesday through Thursday (21.05 - 23.05) and are described below - wish to have time (I actually wish, I could press "pause" and write for hours) for more impressions and stories soon... :)

On the drive from Santiago to the West Coast we come across millions of grapes and other fruits. Chilenean wine contributes well to the economy which the vineyard castle in the back shows!
We travel with the bus company "Condor", which charges us 3000 pesos/person (= 4.5 USD) and get us to Valparaíso within one and a half hour. I cannot even get from Grossenwiehe Gaststätte to Flensburg for this... :D

Valparaíso is large, and we mainly visited downtown and the historical district, which are both seen here: Downtown is rather vibrant and crowdy and not the cleanest while the historical district above is showing pride in being a UNCESCO world heritage.

Famous for the 15 furnuculars, which get people from A to B and us to a beautiful viewpoint.

"Dein Wort ist meines Fußes Leuchte und ein Licht auf meinem Wege.", steht wortwörtlich ins Holz der evangelischen Kirche graviert.
The Lutheran Church was originally founded by German settlers and just rebuild in 2011 after the devestating earthquake in Chile 2010.

Shouldn´t forget to mention that the harbour is the main reason for this beauty around us. Especially before the Panama Canal was opened in 1914 this town was thriving! And today, tourism is also reviving this interesting jewel.

An example of thousands and thousands painted, colofurful walls and the love that has been and is being put into the narrow and winding streets in the historical district which is bathing in "artistic" and "hipster"-vibes.

The transition from colorful and valuable walls to daily life in downtown.

Getting on the trolley bus two men start singing lovessongs about Valparaíso and it feels like we´re doing our "city-tour" with perfect timing!
